If there is God why is he hiding?

Why is he hiding? why he has to send messengers or prophets? Ok i got the whole messengers thing but don't you think its a bit unfair if somebody can't understand the whole religion thing but still God sends him/her to hell coz after all we are biologically programmed by God?
