What do you think of this situation?

I started writing to pen pals in prison. It's now 4 months later and I've become really close to one. But here's the problem. She's serving life. She says she's innocent, and I pretty much believe her but there's no certainty in life! Also, she's 3800 miles away. We've never met but phone almost every day. A big part of me wants to commit myself to her but it's risky. Thoughts welcome.
