Name of this 80's Movie?

I remember a movie from the 80's where a teenage girl with gles somehow comes upon an underground city. While she's there she transforms from being an awkward "ugly" girl to being very pretty (i.e. her gles fall off and break, she has to change her clothes to something tight and skimpy). Somehow I think she finally gets out of the underground city. Any ideas?
